A Spring Weekend with the Full Moon in May 2026
The Autumn Retreat was so lovely and joyful that I would love to gather again with you for a Spring weekend.
The Full Moon on May 2 is known as the Flower Moon—a luminous moment near the close of Spring in the Chinese solar calendar. Soon after comes 立夏 (Lìxià), the “Beginning of Summer,” which arrives around May 6.
But May 1 still feels like Spring to us. So we will spend this weekend steeped in the living energy of the season—the Wood Element, the rising sap, the quiet insistence of growth—while also sensing the first stirring of Summer’s Fire.
Friday Evening – Full Moon Meditation
We will begin our time together with an evening class that opens into a Full Moon meditation outdoors (weather permitting). If the night turns us inward, the meditation hall—surrounded by glass—will still hold the moonlight with us.
Our gathering will include a gentle contemplation of the moon, a simple ritual of attunement, and we will close with Shivani Goodwin’s Moon Practice.
Morning Practice
Both Saturday and Sunday will begin with morning practice before breakfast, greeting the day quietly together.
Saturday
During Saturday’s classes we will learn and practice a Qigong set—likely Ba Duan Jin, Five Celestial Animals, and/or Kuan Yin Qigong—along with movement and meditative practices that harmonize with the lingering vitality of Spring.
In the evening we may explore Inner Alchemy practices related to the Five Elements, listening for how transformation moves through the body and the seasons alike.
Sunday – Welcoming Summer
Our final morning will gather together what we have practiced and experienced, closing the weekend by welcoming the first breath of Summer.
In Person Transmission~
We will root in our practice with the Microcosmic Orbit Meditation to balance and digest them, but also so I can offer you direct transmission like I received from Mantak Chia, Masahiro Ouchi and other Tao teachers. This energetic thread through time, heart-to-heart, is a beautiful part of a Tao path that can’t be replicated online. Through it, we carry a connection to our teacher’s teacher’s teacher… It is the “line” of lineage.
Location~
Sony Point is about 1 hour by car and 2 hours by bus from New York City. Bus fare is about $30 each way and the buses are quite frequent. We will coordinate transport from the bus stop to the center.
Tuition & Accomodations~
Included in your tuition are all teaching fees, meals and shared room accomodations. All meals tare prepared by Stony Point. They are tasty, abundant and most dietary needs are easily met.
For this retreat the first 8 people will be staying in the “Stone House” a lovely pair of apartments between the meditation space and art space (the two places we’ll be practicing). Later registrants can still attend! Stony Point has assured me that our group members can also stay in one of the Lodges if our group expands. You can request to share with a friend or one will be assigned.
Shared Room Fee: $675
Single Supplement: $200
(Single rooms likely only available in the Lodge)
