Practices & Lineages
Qigong & Neidan
Qigong and Neidan—cultivation of Qi and inner work—are at the heart of what I teach.
These practices work with the whole human being: the physical body, the energetic body, the mind and emotions, and what Taoists call Shen—the spirit or awareness.
Some practices are simple and physical. Others are quiet, internal and meditative. Some build strength and vitality; others help us settle, clear, transform and refine.
I teach practices individually and also combine them into longer courses and seasonal journeys, where the practices begin to work together as a larger path.
Inner Alchemy
Inner Alchemy is a name given to the deeper Taoist meditation and transformation practices I teach. Rather than trying to escape the body or the ordinary world, these practices work within us—transforming and refining body, Qi, mind and spirit.
The Lineages I Draw From
My primary lineage is Universal Healing Tao, the system brought to the West and developed internationally by Mantak Chia. I am a Senior Instructor in this tradition.
Over the years I have also studied with teachers and schools including TaoZen, Mt. Emei Shamanic Qigong, Shengzhen Gong, and Temple of Change & Transformation / Medical Qigong.
My studies have included a wide range of Qigong, Neigong, Taiji, meditation and energetic practices. Some are traditional forms; others are contemporary ways of transmitting older practices.
I don’t see these as a collection of unrelated techniques. I draw from them according to what I am teaching and what a particular person or group needs.
Beyond Taoist Practice
Over time, my work expanded into other ways of understanding healing, relationship and our place in the living world.
I trained in Medical Qigong, the energetic arm of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and in Usui Reiki. I became a certified practitioner of Ancestral Lineage Healing through Daniel Foor’s Ancestral Medicine work, and trained in Sacred Depths Coaching with Joanna Lindenbaum.
My studies of ritual and animism have been particularly important. They opened a deeper understanding of our relationship with ancestors, the Earth and other-than-human life.
These practices did not replace my Taoist training. They helped me see more clearly what had been present in it all along: a way of living that recognizes our profound interconnection with the natural world, with those who came before us, and with the unseen dimensions of life.
